I use the traditional tiffany method and use 60/40 amerway solder. this type of material contains lead. while lead exposure can be considered dangerous if inhaled or ingested, it is still best practice to wash your hands thoroughly after handling a piece of stained glass. 

cleaning and polishing stained glass is an important part of owning stained glass. to help with the longevity of the piece, only use mild soap and water to clean the surfaces. if your piece has lost it's original shine you can use car wax for a lil somethin extra.
